30 July 2017

The Subsea Energy Australia Industry awards winners have been officially announced.

Industry-led peak body, Subsea Energy Australia, held its annual Australian Subsea Industry Awards ceremony last night (Friday 28th July) at the glamorous Linton & Kay Galleries in Perth.

MC Ashley Duncan, SEA board member and Business Development Manager at TechnipFMC, welcomed the 130 guests and said: “It is through the tenacity and determination of our industry’s workforce that during the past five decades we have pushed the boundaries of technology to meet the challenges to deliver some of the largest and most challenging projects in the world. Our 2017 Awards highlight and share the examples of success in the last year, inspiring our drive for improvement in the future.

“We want to commend those who have been breaking down barriers and developing techniques, which are extending the life of our industry, and hope that this inspires the continued development that is critical to our future”.

This year’s awards attracted a high volume of nominees, and were judged by Hosi Sabavala, Technology & Innovation Manager – Upstream at Woodside Energy, Jill Stajduhar, General Manager Industry Research and Innovation at NERA and Brian Guest, Subsea Engineer – Australia Production Unit at BHP Billiton.

Subsea Energy Australia Chairman Marius Martens said the high calibre of nominees represented the depth of talent in Australia’s subsea industry.

“The subsea sector makes a significant contribution to our State’s economy, and it’s forecast to grow significantly in the near future. In order for our industry to sustain itself and to grow, it is essential we improve industry collaboration. Through collaboration that we can develop competitive and differentiated, and therefore exportable products, be they engineering, hardware or oil & gas. And it is through exports that we can increase our revenue,” said Mr Martens.
